What is Boxercise?
The Biggest Brand Name in Boxing Fitness ...
Boxercise® utilises training principles and skills that have existed for over two hundred years within the noble art of Boxing.
While it's true to say that Boxercise® won't make you into a ring-crafted fighter, it does use those same skills in a controlled non-combat environment to give you a full body workout experience.
So, if you want to learn to box, join a Boxing gym, if you want the fun of hitting pads and a great workout then Boxercise® could be for you.
In fact, Boxercise® is such a great way of working out and and toning the body that it can be used in many sports to enhance the individuals overall fitness and endurance requirements plus it's much more fun and challenging than just sitting on a bike that's doesn't go anywhere.
Primarily there are 8 punches used. Those with a boxing background will know them as 'jab', 'cross', 'hook', etc while those experiencing Boxing through the medium of Boxercise® will become familiar with the numbering system 1 through 8.
Boxercise® as a fitness discipline was established in the UK in 1992 and has trained literally thousands of instructors in many different venues across Europe. A source study from 2006 calculated that over 1.2 million people took part in Boxercise® classes, just in the UK.
Having successfully adapted age old training principles to engage novice fitness participants it's easy to see why the discipline is so popular as it provides a fun, addictive, safe, stress busting exercise suitable for all ages and levels of ability.
The benefits of regular exercise are numerous but to name just a few:
- healthier lifestyle
- feel good factor
- social (meet new friends)
